An issue tree is a powerful way to guide your thinking, both at the diagnostic and solution-identification phases.
Issue trees are a graphical breakdown of a key question that obey four basic rules. They:
- Consistently answer 'why' or 'how' (but not both)
- Progress from the key question to the analysis
- Have independent and collectively exhaustive (ICE) branches
- Are insightful
This presentation shows how you can become better at building them: it explains the four rules and gives you ideas to help you follow them, making your thinking both more creative and more critical.
